GLENDALE WATER & POWER SELECTS IDMODELING FOR 3-YEAR HYDRAULIC MODELING SUPPORT CONTRACT

Pasadena, CA USA, November 6th, 2008 - Glendale Water & Power (GWP) has recently announced the selection of IDModeling, Inc. (IDM) as its hydraulic model consultant-of-choice.  Following an extensive selection process, which included the consideration of ENR Top 50 consulting firms (2007), IDModeling, Inc. separated itself through demonstrated expertise in H20Map hydraulic model training & support, and applications using MWH Soft’s H20Net, H20Map, and InfoWater hydraulic modeling software.

This benchmark project includes providing support services for GWP’s water distribution system modeling,  over a 3-year contract.  Over this term, hydraulic model tasks may include steady-state/EPS calibration, GIS integrations, workflow generations, QA/QC of model and accompanying deliverables, advanced modeling applications including water age/trace modeling, conservation modeling, unidirectional flushing, criticality analyses, as well as  ongoing hydraulic model training workshops.

The selection process for this project involved researching references provided by each competing firm.  As a result of discussions with IDM references, it was determined that not only had IDM fully committed to servicing its clients with quality models, but delivery of a tremendously positive client-experience was also unsurpassed.  IDM references were consistently enthusiastic about the work performed with IDM and the future and potential that they were realizing with their hydraulic models.

IDModeling’s references quickly sparked the charge to initiate a Hydraulic Model User Group.  Together with GWP as the utility hub, the User Group will attract interest and participation from many local utilities in the San Gabriel Valley. “GWP is excited to team with IDModeling as we drive our hydraulic model to its maximum potential”, said Leighton Fong, Civil Engineer at GWP, “We were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of IDM’s references and look forward, with great anticipation, to pooling GWP resources with other local utilities to harness our collective experiences through the resulting Users Group”.

The City of Glendale is the third largest city in the Los Angeles County. It has a population of 202,700 and covers 31.5 square miles. The potable water distribution system consists of 378 miles of water main, 28 pump stations, and 27 storage facilities. There are 11 separate pressure zones, 35,000 water service connections, 2,900 fire hydrants and 6,600 gate valves.

IDModeling brings over 70 years combined experience in hydraulic modeling for water distribution, sewer collection, and recycled water systems. IDM has provided technical support and professional services in the hydraulic modeling field for thousands of engineers and water systems across the globe.

100% of IDModeling’s business is hydraulic modeling construction, calibration, and applications, standard and customized training, and the development of modeling specific tools. IDM’s hydraulic model specialty, helps distinguish itself as a group of passionate modelers, eager to embrace news challenges.
