Free Hydraulic Model Needs Assessment
IDeas

Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility (AWWU) has recently announced the selection of IDModeling, Inc. as its hydraulic model consultant-of-choice.  Following an extensive selection process, which included the consideration of several global, ENR Top 50 consulting firms (2007) and interviews at AWWU facilities, IDModeling, Inc. separated itself through demonstrated expertise in water and sewer hydraulic model construction, calibration, and applications using ESRI’s ArcGIS and MWH Soft’s InfoWater & InfoSewer hydraulic modeling software.

This benchmark project includes updating the distribution and collection system models’ piping and facilities based on AWWU’s GIS, geo-coded water demand and sewer load allocations, extensive application of ArcGIS layers to facilitate model attribution, and steady state and multi-day extended period calibrations.

“IDModeling impressed AWWU with its willingness and ability to delve into the details of our hydraulic model and ancillary supporting data needs”, said Tina Miller, GIS Supervisor, “Their team of experts were passionate about serving AWWU, supporting our hydraulic models and modelers for the long term, and developing a synergy with our team through shared hydraulic model and GIS innovations.  We very much look forward to advancing our hydraulic models with IDModeling.”

“We are privileged to have the opportunity to work with AWWU on such an important project” said Mr. Paul Hauffen, President and Principal Modeler for IDModeling. “IDModeling’s hydraulic model standards and technology-driven hydraulic model tools were designed specifically to work with the InfoWater/Sewer software suites, which enables us to enhance the data collection, construction, GIS-exchange, calibration, and documentation tasks of this project.  IDTools such Auto-FH (fire hydrant) Forms, Auto-Sync Calibration Sheets, IDRanking Matrix™, Design Logs, and more will allow our team to communicate extremely efficiently with AWWU and maintain a consistently high quality throughout the project.”

AWWU’s water distribution system maintains 860 miles of pipeline while serving an approximate population of 330,000 utility customers.  Its sewer collection system maintains approximately 17,000 manholes and 700 miles of pipeline throughout the Anchorage Basin as well as the outlying communities of Eagle River and Girdwood.
