IDModeling Delivers Comprehensive Water Distribution System Modeling Workshop to Fayetteville Public Works
Commission
IDModeling and the Fayetteville Public Works Commission have recently completed a 4-day hydraulic modeling workshop
concentrating on the development of the PWC’s 41,000 pipe hydraulic model in using H2OMAP Water. The new model
maintains a 1:1 GIS relationship and will be used for fireflow analysis, GIS updates, IDSE objectives, and water system
planning for PWC’s rapidly expanding service area.
In the 4-day workshop, IDModeling covered GIS integration techniques, service node recognition and querying, demand
levels, pumping controls, plant connections, pressure zone breaks, maximum day/average day demand estimates, hydrant
flow test model integration, development impact analysis, and much more. Fayetteville PWC is working towards complete
implementation of these tasks system-wide as well as further model calibration.
“Far and away the best technical training I have ever had,” says Dean Carter, Hydraulic Modeler,
Fayetteville Public Works Commission. “If I can retain and utilize half of what we covered, I’ll be doing
great. The rest of the staff had only positive comments and all were very impressed. We look forward to working with
IDModeling in the future.”
“IDModeling designs their training programs to be practical, hands-on, and customized, based on the
organization’s data,” says Paul Hauffen, CEO of IDModeling. “Over the course of just a few days, we
are able to give civil engineers a solid understanding of their water/wastewater systems as well as provide them with
comprehensive software training. IDModeling specializes in hydraulic modeling — basically that is all that we do,
so we are able to provide unique tips and strategies on model-building, calibrating, and running a hydraulic model.”
IDModeling staff has trained thousands of engineers across the country, including Directors, Project Managers, Staff
Engineers, GIS Technicians, and Operators from some of the nations largest Utilities and Consulting Firms. IDModeling staff
trains from the Project Perspective and emphasizes Critical Applications of the software and Time-Saving techniques to
benefit the project up-front and establish a base-foundation for the employee to build-on through continued project work.
