Small Utilities Modeling & Analysis (SUMA) Program - Big Value for Small Utilities

In this time of tighter budgets, maintaining service levels for customers may grow challenging for smaller utilities.   In response to this challange IDModeling offers an unprecedented approach to providing small utilities a sustainable tool to assist them in efficiently and effectively operating and planning their water and wastewater systems.  The Small Utilities Modeling  and Analysis (SUMA) program rapidly equips smaller utilities with comprehensive modeling applications and services needed to plan, design pipes, size facilities, perform fire flows, capacity studies, meet regulation requirements, and more.  Furthermore, it offers low cost monthly subscription pricing that makes it easier to predict, and facilitate procurement.

SUMA Program Benefits

"The SUMA program makes it affordable for smaller utilities to take advantage of a hydraulic modeling tool without the usual project and software costs associated with developing, calibrating, and applying hydraulic models," said Jerry Edwards, vice president, IDModeling Engineering Services. "As we have been focusing on hydraulic modeling services for the last 7 years, our team has established a revolutionary process that incorporates standards, automation, and validation to eliminate the common obstacles that challenge these types of projects such as extended data acquisition, evaluations, and product delivery. The SUMA program allows upper management, engineering directors, and operation managers to quickly equip their teams with the needed tools to manage their water and wastewater systems, with substantial cost savings in the process."

SUMA Program Deliverables

  • Model - validated hydraulic model
  • Reporting – model development reports and initial results summary
  • Mapping – result-themed maps
  • Analytics – dashboard of input and output data
  • Online Viewer – hosted map viewer showing model results
  • Online Training & Support – online access to training library and dedicated support hours

The SUMA program compiles, cleanses, and validates the existing engineering and network data of a utility and then develops a hydraulic modeling tool and hydraulics results that are accessible to everyone in the organization. Reports, analytics, and maps are generated based on the results of the hydraulic model and shared via an online viewer. The integration of the engineering data and hydraulic model results will lead to streamlined analysis perform and plan more efficiently, results presentation, and improved decision making that helps utilities.

Eligibility

The SUMA program allows small utilities to pay monthly or annual fixed price in exchange for software, maintenance, services, and training. Small utilities with populations of 20,000 or fewer can take advantage of the Small Utility Modeling and Analysis (SUMA) program. Counties, cities, villages, parishes, townships, and boroughs are eligible.

Schedule

SUMA projects are typically implemented in 1-3 months, depending on the complexity and available data, and can be maintained and updated on an annual basis allowing online access to model data, results, mapping as well as training.

Removing financial and administrative barriers will help small utilities quickly achieve an enterprise-wide hydraulic model tool that improves system planning and operations to better serve their customers.
